5 Important Principals of Righteous Giving
Don't over spiritualize money, we need it, and it is essential to carry on the purposes of the Kingdom of God
- If we do not order our money according to Gods will and Word our hole lives will be out of line with the will of God
There are two types of money
- Material, financial wealth; Temporary and will not last (important)
- What we do with it will determine how much eternal wealth we end up
- Hebrews 11:24-26, Moses turned his back on all his wealth (gave up the Egyptian kingdom for Gods Kingdom)
- He didn't settle for poverty but he choose greater riches to be an apostle for the Lord
- Spiritual wealth; Eternal (most important)
- Matthew 6:19-20
Is Money (wealth) Good or evil?
- Revelation 5:12, lists 7 Good things (7 is the number for completeness) that He is worthy to receive. Riches are essentially good as they are the second foremost depiction of worthiness. All of these on the list can be used for evil, but that does not donate that everything on the lists mentioned in heaven is inherently evil. Money is Good!
- Haggai 2:8-9, (Silver and Gold) God is saying the money is mine the gold is mine, all the wealth in the world actually belongs to one person (God). Primary purpose is to be used for the works of God.
- Acts 20:20, We have no right to keep back money (preaching) from Christians.
- Acts 20:26-27, whole council of God includes ministry on money, needs to be talked about and thoroughly known for our good.
- Matthew 6:24, Mammon represents an evil spiritual force that controls and enslaves people through money, those who are being controlled are controlled from the spiritual realm to serve evil. Cannot serve God with money and choose mammon when it pleases you, must choose God over money, if you love money (it controls and motivates you) you are hating God. If we are loyal to God in this manner we will not let it dictate our actions. Anyone chosen will be brought to a point to make a decision either God or money, we must be able to forsake everything to follow Him.
- What God is going to entrust you with spiritually depends on what you do with your money physically.
- 2 Corinthians 8:8, 24 The test is what we do with our money, we are not to be hypocrites.
- Matthew 6:21, Invest your money into the kingdom because where your money goes your heart will follow and it will open up the spiritual riches unto you.
What Christians do with their money is not about law it is about grace
- John 1:17, Grace cannot be earned and is operated only through faith (Ephesians 2:8)
- 2 Corinthians 8, contains the word grace 7 times, key word in the teaching about money.
- 2 Corinthians 3:3, grace is written on the hearts of people via the Holy Spirit, everything in your life proceeds first from out of your heart.
- Psalm 51, Holy Spirit is generous and moves our hearts and we are never to be stingy.
- We do not gain Gods favor by giving
- The first thing we are to offer God is ourselves or your material wealth is of no avail (Romans 12:1-2)
- Gods grace provides an abundance 2 Corinthians 9:8
- Grace is not given for our selfishness but for good works so that we may have the greater blessing Acts 20:35
- Giving is sewing
- 2 Corinthians 9:6, your giving has everything to do with your earthly prosperity.
- money must be given wisely, prayerfully and spirit led, must choose the right soil and type of seeds. Invest in the places that will bring forth the most fruit.
- Galatians 6:9, Don't get discouraged there is a gap between when you sew and when you reap, it may not happen over night.

- Proverbs 3:9-10, honor God with your finances
- Tithing began with Abraham in Genesis 14:18-19, Melchizedek (Jesus) held the first communion and Abraham gave Jesus a tenth of everything he had acknowledging and honoring Him as his high priest.
- In order to qualify as Abraham's children we should walk in the steps he took
- Genesis 28:20-22, by tithing we acknowledge Jesus as our high priest
- Genesis 32:10, tithing was the source of his prosperity and this is his testimony of abundance
- Deuteronomy 12:6, 7 different tithes that were mandatory under the law, now we are under grace and requires free will to reception
- Hebrews 7:8; 8:6,
